The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy

With the passage of LD 1957 “An Act To Promote Equity And Increase Opportunities In The Cannabis Industry By Reducing Restrictions Related To Convictions For Drug Offenses And To Replace The Term “marijuana” With The Term “cannabis” In The Maine Revised Statutes” the Maine Legislature has put its foot down: let’s start addressing this plant by its name, and not a slang term with questionable roots.

While the bill does not officially become law until 90 days from when the legislature adjourns, the former Office of Marijuana Policy announced on May 2, 2022 that it would be changing its name in an official statement found here.

The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy announced its official rebrand May 2, 2022.
